The tax office is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except legal holidays. Staff is available during these hours to answer your questions relative to:
Tax amounts on properties in the Town
Proper ID of properties in the Town
Amounts due/past due on taxes for the Town of Cheektowaga, and the following school districts Cheektowaga Central, Maryvale, Cleveland Hill, Depew, Sloan, Lancaster, West Seneca & Williamsville.
Tax Payments Due Dates:
Town & County Taxes, February 15, 2013 without penalty.
School Taxes, October 15, 2013 without penalty.
After the due dates, penalties are assessed according to Erie County Tax Act and NYS Real Property Tax Law Sec 925. There is no provision for the waiver of penalties. The penalty schedule is located on the front of the tax bills.
In the event that a check is returned by the bank, for whatever reason, the payment date of the account may be affected and penalties also may be applied.
PARTIAL PAYMENT OF TAXES:
THERE MUST BE NO PRIOR YEAR TAXES DUE ON THE PROPERTY
It is important that the tax payer understand the rules that apply when choosing to make partial payments.
You may make as many partial payments as you choose to the Town during the active collection cycle. Town/County Tax Bills are mailed to the residents on approximately January 15th with a due date of February 15th. The Town accepts payments in the Cheektowaga Tax Office through June 30th. After June 30th any unpaid balance will be due to the Erie County Tax Department.
The School Tax Bills are mailed to the residents on approximately September 15th with a due date of October 15th. The Town accepts payments in the Cheektowaga Tax Office through November 30th. After November 30th any unpaid balance will be due to the Erie County Tax Department through December 31st, any remaining unpaid balance will be added to the next Town/County Tax Bill.
If electing to make partial payments please note that penalties will apply to all unpaid balances after February 15th or October 15th. Please read the back of your tax bill for information on the penalty schedules.
The Town of Cheektowaga Tax Receiver was instrumental in augmenting legislation to allow taxpayers to make partial payments on their tax bill. It is important that the taxpayer understand the rules for making such payments:

As always, the drop box located at the rear of Town Hall is available forTax payments (CHECKS ONLY) 24 hours. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE TAX DEPOSITORY DROP BOX LOCATED BEHIND TOWN HALL WILL BE EMPTIED AND LOCKED AT MIDNIGHT ON OCTOBER 15TH, OCTOBER 31ST AND DECEMBER 2ND, 2013. THE BOX WILL BE UNLOCKED ON THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY AT 9:00 A.M.
THE LAST DAY TO MAKE A PAYMENT FOR THE SCHOOL TAX BILL AT THE CHEEKTOWAGA TAX OFFICE WILL BE MONDAY,DECEMBER 2ND, 2013. AFTER DECEMBER 2ND 2013 PAYMENT CAN BE MADE TO ERIE COUNTY REAL PROPERTY TAX SERVICES UNTIL DECEMBER 31ST, 2013. UNPAID SCHOOL TAXES WILL BE ADDED TO THE TOWN AND COUNTY TAX BILL.
THIS POLICY WILL CONTINUE FOR ALL FUTURE TAX COLLECTIONS.
