August 24, 2010- Chiefs Win First Tuesday Championship

In their 2nd Season in the Cheektowaga Youth & Recreational Services Tuesday Recreational Inline Hockey League, the #2 Seeded Chiefs outlasted the #1 Seeded Defending Champion Moose Knuckles to capture their First Cheektowaga Inline Championship.  The Moose Knuckles struck early, scoring just 18 seconds into the game, but the Chiefs stood strong and answered with goals from Dan Harwood, league leading scorer Pat Gillen and 2 from Paul Hockwater to take a 4-1 lead into the half.

Gillen struck again early in the 2nd half to put the Chiefs up 5-1 on a goal from Hockwater, but the defending champions would not lie down, scoring twice in 26 seconds to bring the game within 2 goals ; 5-3.  The Moose Knuckles dominated the play for the last 10 minutes of the game, but goaltender Joe Szafranski stood strong between the pipes, withstanding an onslaught of shots.  The Moose Knuckles brought the game within one goal with 27 seconds left in play as Joe Chappius scored through traccif, but his efforts were not enough as the Chiefs weathered the storm and captured the Championship; 5-4.  Paul Hockwater earned the 2010 Playoff MVP Award with 3 goals and 7 assists in the Playoffs, including 4 points in the Championship Game.
