Tax Payments Due Dates:
Town & County Taxes, February 15, 2019 without penalty.
School Taxes, October 15, 2019 without penalty.

After the due dates, penalties are assessed according to Erie County Tax Act and NYS Real Property Tax Law Sec 925.  There is no provision for the waiver of penalties.  The penalty schedule is located on the front of the tax bills.
In the event that a check is returned by the bank, for whatever reason, the payment date of the account may be affected and penalties also may be applied.

The Town of Cheektowaga Tax Receiver was instrumental in augmenting legislation to allow taxpayers to make partial payments on their tax bill.  You may make as many partial payments as you choose to the Town during the active collection cycle.  It is important that the taxpayer understand the rules for making such payments:

Town/County Tax Bills are mailed to residents around January 15th and started accepting payments on January 15th with a due date of February 15th without penalty.  The Town accepts payments postmarked and paid by July 1st.  After July 1st, any unpaid balance will be due to the Erie County Real Property Tax Services.

The School Tax Bills are mailed to residents around September 15th and start accepting payments on September 16th with a due date of October 15th without penalty.  The Town accepts payments postmarked and paid by December 2nd.  After December 2nd, any unpaid balances will be due to the Erie County Real Property Tax Services.

If electing to make a partial payment, please note that penalties will apply to all unpaid balances after February 15th or October 15th.   Please read the back of your tax bill for information on the penalty schedules.
