All Town Departments still have employees reporting to work and are processing paperwork, licenses, permits etc…Contact departments with specific questions. Departments located within Town Hall can accept paperwork through the Drop Box located on the Union Rd side of Town Hall.

Per the Governor’s Executive Order 202.1, the Town Board work session and Town Board regular meetings can be held remotely. The public is invited to listen from their homes. See “News & Announcements” on home page for call in information

Building, Planning, Plumbing & Fire Safety

The Town of Cheektowaga has taken steps to provide essential services to the community by expanding its hours in the Building, Planning, Plumbing, & Fire Safety Department. In cooperation from staff with the intent to meet the directive from the Federal and State mandates we have modified our work schedule. Our department will be available to provide information to the public Monday- Friday between the hours 8:00 am until 6:00 pm. Please follow mandated orders to practice safe distancing measures during the application of essential construction services.

SANITATION DEPARTMENT CHANGES

• All grass pick-up will be temporarily suspended until the State of Emergency ends. The town council recently cancelled a public hearing to consider a permanent end to grass pickup, but as of now no resolution has passed changing grass pickup on a permanent basis.

SENIOR CENTER and SENIOR SERVICES

The Cheektowaga Senior Center is Closed to the Public until it is safe to invite our members back in, but, staff is available by phone to answer questions and assist seniors on a case by case basis. Please call 686-3930 during business hours (M-F, 9am-4:30 pm).

Our Seniors Going Places Van Service is still operating, but on a very limited basis and FeedMore WNY is still running their Meals on Wheels Program from the Senior Center, Lord of Life Church and Maryvale Presbyterian Church. If you are a senior (age 60+) and are interested in the home-delivered meal program on a temporary basis to help you through this crisis, call Erie County Senior Services at 858-8526.

We know these are challenging times for the older adults in our community and we want you to know we are still here to offer support and link you with services if you need them.

Passport Processing has been suspended per U.S. Dept. of State
Solicitor Permits– have been suspended until further notice; contact 686-3423 with questions
Marriage Licenses– we are taking applications by appointment only; to schedule call 686-3982
Death Certificates/Birth Certificates– Requests by mail or drop box are accepted see Vital Statistics
Dog Licenses– payments can be dropped in the drop box (located on Town Hall) or they can be paid on line as long as the rabies vaccinations are up-to-date at https://tocny.org/departments/town-clerk/licenses/ If the rabies are not up-to-date please contact the office at 686-3423.
Handicap Permits– can be dropped in the payment box for processing

2020 Property Tax Payments– Town & County Taxes are still due by the dates scheduled on the front of the tax bill. No legislation has been enacted that waives penalties from being assessed. Please submit all payments online(bank service fees still apply) or you can drop the information in the drop box outside Town Hall and a receipt will be mailed to you.

CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

  • All Football, Baseball, Softball and Soccer Fields are closed for group events or gatherings
  • Basketball courts and Roller hockey are closed
  • Playgrounds are closed for public use
  • Walking and Running in the Parks and Trails are still an option as long as we observe a comfortable distance from each other
  • Tennis courts & Pickle Ball – Limited nets are installed for public use
