The purpose of this Chapter is to establish a procedure and standard for the identification and registration of rental properties and non-owner-occupied properties, to ensure that the Town of Cheektowaga has a meaningful, efficient and effective means of communicating with those owners.

If you own a property within the Town of Cheektowaga (not including the Village of Sloan or Depew) and you do not occupy the residence, you are required to register said property, every two (2) years with the Town, whether the building is occupied or vacant.

A Registration Statement should be completed for each parcel within 30 days of the purchase of the property and returned with the registration fee of $20.

Failure to register any rental property or non-owner occupied property is a violation of Section 194-6 of the Local Law and will subject you to a fine. To review the entire local law see: Local Law Chapter 194 – Landlord Rental & Property Owner Registration Ordinance(link)
