Applicable Building Codes
NOTICE EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 3, 2016 NEW STATE BUILDING CODES BECOME EFFECTIVE
The Town of Cheektowaga is mandated by New York State to administer and enforce the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code. The current series of codes adopted by New York State include:
- Residential Code of NYS 2010
- Building Code of NYS 2010
- Existing Building Code of NYS 2010
- Plumbing Code, Mechanical Code and Fuel Gas Code of NYS 2010
- Energy Conservation Construction Code of NYS 2010
- Fire Code and Property Maintenance Code of NYS 2010
On October 3, 2016 the above codes will be replaced by the 2015 series of International Codes and the “2016 NYS Supplement” to such codes. The new codes may be utilized now if desired by the applicant providing the applicant identifies on his/her application submittal that they are utilizing such codes.
