APPLICATION OF MARRIAGE RECORDS
$40 N.Y.S. Fee (issuance from 9:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.)

- Must obtain at least twenty-four (24) hours before the wedding ceremony
- License is valid for no longer than sixty (60) days
- Both parties must be present (together) to apply for a license
- Valid in New York State
REQUIRED ITEMS AT APPLICATION:
- Certified Birth Certificate (with raised seal), Baptismal Record, Naturalization Record
- Driver’s License, Passport or Military Identification (1 of the 3)
- If either party is divorced or if the marriage was annulled; certified final decrees MUST be presented as proof (Required)
TRANSCRIPT OF MARRIAGE
Certified transcripts of marriage with an official stamp and raised seal are provided for
$10.00 per copy
Your marriage transcript can ONLY be obtained at the City, Town or Village Clerk’s Office is which the application was made.
The requesting individual must complete a short form and present PROOF of IDENTITY as/or:
- the named individual (applicant) or spouse
- others: documented judicial or other proper purpose (ex: you may need a marriage certificate to claim a benefit. You would need a official letter from the agency saying that you need the marriage record to process the claim)
- or NYS Court Order
TO REQUEST BY MAIL:
A letter can be addressed to the Town Clerk’s office (Registrar of Vital Statistics) requesting a certified copy of a Certificate of Birth or Death or a Marriage Certificate by submitting:
- Vital Statistics Request Form
- Proof of identity and relation to the individual(s)
- Check for the number of copies being requested ($10 per copy)
GENEALOGICAL SEARCH
Search Fee: $10 per name, per enactment of Ch.413 of the Laws of 1991
Genealogical Copies are $1.00 each
